Prime Minister Modi identified Article 370 as the primary obstacle hindering the development of Jammu and Kashmir.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for a series of transformative projects totaling ₹32,000 crore in Jammu and Kashmir. These initiatives encompass various sectors such as health, education, transportation, energy, and civic infrastructure, among others.
At the event, the prime minister inaugurated the inaugural run of the first Electric Train in the valley and initiated the train service connecting Sangaldan station to Baramulla station. The commissioning of the Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan section holds importance, featuring the use of Ballast Less Track (BLT) throughout the route, enhancing the overall riding experience for passengers.
PM Modi distributed appointment orders to around 1500 recently recruited government officials.
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi expressed steadfast confidence in the potential of Jammu and Kashmir, pledging to realize the aspirations of its people through the vision of ‘Viksit Jammu and Kashmir.’
“I have complete faith in you, and together we will transform Jammu and Kashmir into a developed region. The dreams of the last 70 years will be fulfilled by Modi in the upcoming years,” he stated.
Previously, Jammu and Kashmir were often associated with disheartening news of bombings, kidnappings, and division. However, the prime minister remarked that the region is now progressing and moving towards development.
Referring to the now-repealed Article 370 of the Indian Constitution as the primary obstacle to Jammu and Kashmir’s development, PM Modi highlighted the region’s shift towards comprehensive progress.
“As a result of the abrogation of Article 370, I have urged people to support BJP to win 370 seats and NDA to secure 400 seats in elections,” he stated.
“I’ve heard that a film on Article 370 is set to be released this week. It is a positive development as it will assist people in obtaining accurate information.”
Present at the event were Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Union minister Jitendra Singh, and prominent BJP leaders, including J-K unit president Ravinder Raina.
Sinha commended a significant reduction in terrorism incidents, noting a 75% decline.
“The top commanders of the outfits have been appropriately dealt with. Now, there is no issuance of protest calendars, and stone pelting is a thing of the past. Markets, schools, and universities remain open throughout the year,” stated the Lieutenant Governor.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh attributed the positive changes to the cessation of appeasement politics and the empowerment of marginalized communities.
“After PM Modi came to power, appeasement politics came to an end. Kashmiri Pandits, daughters of Jammu and Kashmir, Gujjars, Paharis, and others secured their rights. The removal of Article 370 proved that ‘Modi hai to mumkin hai’,” Singh affirmed.
